Harman-Turner’s choices

Nike “Parklife” (1997)

The TV ad begins by showing a grassroots football match on a muddy, urban pitch (Hackney Marshes) with what seems to be a typical Sunday league scene.

Gradually, a number of pro footballers appear on screen, including Eric Cantona, Robbie Fowler, Ian Wright and David Seaman playing alongside members of the public. The advert emphasises the UK’s passion for the beautiful game, what it meant for the nation and the unique place it had in our culture.
