Visa and ITV Weather in a TV partnership first

From Christmas light switch-ons to big shopping events, Visa’s partnership with ITV saw weather presenters highlighting key activities happening on local high streets to encourage shoppers out of their homes. This is the first time ITV has used the weather in a commercial partnership other than sponsorship.

The thirteen bespoke regional adverts ran twice a week for 4 weeks in the lead up to Christmas. Visa’s Christmas TV ad “All They Want for Christmas is You” which shone a light on nine real shopkeepers, including a butcher, bookseller and florist – the real heroes of Britain’s high streets – ran alongside it.

Suzy Brown, Head of Marketing UK & Ireland, Visa has said of the partnership: “Our Christmas campaign is all about celebrating the independent retailers that make our high streets special. It’s great to see the regional weather presenters supporting our campaign, as part of this novel partnership with ITV, as they join us in encouraging viewers to support their local high street come rain or shine.”
