Thinkbox returning to TV with new ad

8th July 2010: Thinkbox today announced that it is returning to TV screens later this year with a new ad campaign to remind advertisers of the continuing power and effectiveness of TV.

The TV ad is being created by The Red Brick Road and directed by award-winning director Andy McLeod of Rattling Stick, who has been responsible for ads including Department for Transport’s ‘Live With it’ and Robinsons’ ‘Bird House’. The media planning is by MediaCom.

The new Thinkbox ad follows the award-winning success of the organisation’s first ever TV advertising campaign, which was launched in May 2009 with a roadblock across 70 TV channels. The first ad featured a hypnotherapy patient unleashing his stream of consciousness and impersonating famous lines from much loved TV ads that are part of popular culture.

The new ad will be screened across a variety of broadcast and on-demand TV channels represented by Thinkbox’s shareholders and their partner channels. Thinkbox’s shareholders are Channel 4, Five, GMTV, ITV, Sky Media and Turner Media Innovations.

Lindsey Clay, Thinkbox’s Marketing Director: “We have so much evidence proving how effective TV advertising is, but there’s nothing quite like seeing it work for yourself – as we did last year – to convince you to have more.”

Barbara Waite, Business Director at The Red Brick Road: "It's a testament to the impact of the first ad that Thinkbox will be back on screens to remind people of the power of TV advertising. Our last ad focused on TV advertising’s long-term ability to live on in people’s memory; this time round we’re planning to focus on another of TV advertising’s many strengths and we are very pleased to have Andy McLeod on board to help us deliver this."

Details on the creative of the new Thinkbox ad will be announced later this year.

Thinkbox’s first ever TV ad has been awarded by D&AD, the BTAAs, and the APA. Thinkbox also won the Best B2B Marketing award at the Marketing Society Awards for Excellence in June.

Thinkbox recently published new research – in conjunction with the IPA and The Gunn Report - proving for the first time a direct link between creatively-awarded ad campaigns and advertising effectiveness.
