Televisionaries - Logo  8th October 2008: Thinkbox today revealed the keynote speakers and contributors who will appear at ‘Televisionaries: The Thinkbox Forum 2008’, being held on the afternoon of Thursday 20 November at 1 Marylebone Road, London.

Media consultant Peter Bazalgette, Andy Duncan, Chief Executive of Channel 4, and Peter Fincham, ITV’s Director of Television, will headline the first half of the Thinkbox event, which examines ‘The Future of Viewing’. Roisin Donnelly, Corporate Marketing Director and Head of Marketing for Procter & Gamble UK & Ireland, Nick Gill, Executive Creative Director at BBH, and Marie Oldham, Head of Strategy at Media Planning Group, will headline the second half, devoted to exploring ‘The Future of Brands on TV’.

Thinkbox is also filming contributions from a host of luminaries from across the media industry who will give their insights on TV’s future, including Alan Bishop, CEO of COI Communications; Ashley Highfield, CEO of Kangaroo; Jill McDonald, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s UK and Northern Europe; Elisabeth Murdoch, Chairman and CEO of Shine Ltd.; Brian Sullivan, Sky’s Director of Product Strategy and Management; David Wheldon, Global Brand Director of Vodafone; and Gerhard Zeiler, CEO of RTL Group.

The line-up ensures that all the major areas of the commercial TV industry are represented, from media owners to media planning, TV production to ad creative, and, crucially, the views of the advertisers. The event will be hosted by Krishnan Guru-Murthy, presenter of Channel 4 News.

Tess Alps, Chief Executive of Thinkbox: ‘This is an A-Z of genuine Televisionaries. With these people involved we have every side of commercial TV not only covered, but covered with a peerless level of expertise, experience and excellence. We’re thrilled they’re giving their time to take part, join and fuel the debate, and share their visions on the future of TV.’

The Televisionaries event will be composed of two related sessions: ‘The Future of Viewing’ and ‘The Future of Brands on TV’. Both are designed to be highly interactive and will feature a mix of keynote visions, specially-commissioned TV interludes and debate. There will be plenty of opportunity for comments and questions from all attendees. This includes a panel debate towards the end of the afternoon involving Thinkbox board members Nick Bampton Managing Director of Viacom Brand Solutions, Nick Milligan, Managing Director of Sky Media, and Mark White, Executive Director of Sales and acting CEO at Five.

At the event, Thinkbox will also be revealing findings from the first stage of its new research into the rapidly expanding phenomenon of online TV. The research examines how consumers are using online TV services and how attitudes towards online TV compare with those towards linear, broadcast TV. The research will provide fresh insight into how the online TV environment is developing and how it can be used by advertisers. It also compares on-demand TV with linear broadcast TV, together with their respective expanding commercial formats.
