Televisionaries: The Thinkbox Forum 2008
Thursday 20 November, 1 Marylebone Road, London
- Major event will explore the ‘Future of TV viewing’ and the ‘Future of brands on TV’ -
5th August 2008: Thinkbox today announced preliminary details for ‘Televisionaries: The Thinkbox Forum 2008’. This major industry event will be held on the afternoon of Thursday 20 November at 1 Marylebone Road, London.
Televisionaries will see leaders from all corners of the TV and advertising industries invited to give their visions of the future of commercial TV, what it means for viewers, what it means for brands and what it means to the bottom line.
Televisionaries will be the pre-eminent forum for discussion, debate, insight and inspiration about the future of commercial TV; it will examine and forecast the effects of its liberating technologies and scrutinise the expanding opportunities for advertisers. The event is invitation-only but will be made available for anyone to watch live via the Thinkbox website.
Thinkbox is also launching a Televisionaries blog in the run-up to the event to encourage debate around key issues in TV and advertising and to set the context and agenda both for the event and beyond.
The afternoon will be split into two related sessions: ‘The Future of Viewing’ and ‘The Future of Brands on TV’. These interactive sessions will feature a mix of panel debates, the latest research findings, specially-commissioned TV interludes and keynote visions – with plenty of opportunity for comments and questions from all attendees. Further details about the content and speaker line-up at Televisionaries will be announced later this summer.
"This is about getting a dialogue going between the two major industries who will need to work together to deliver to consumers the TV they want, whatever the technology. There will be proper debate on the stage with the invitees encouraged to take part. The crucial element is that we will be giving the attendees all the relevant facts and trends, to fuel a well-informed discussion. So neither bland optimism nor hysterical doom-mongering but a realistic and constructive exchange of views about what's on and over the horizon for TV. We want the attendees to leave knowing how they can personally and positively affect the future of TV."

Thinkbox is working with events agency Sledge and advertising agency The Red Brick Road to develop and organise the Televisionaries event.
